We were green before green was green.

Before green was a movement, our people were taking big steps to a smaller footprint.

For over twenty years, hundreds of green initiatives have been implemented at O.C. Tanner. Here are just a few of the real ways we're making a difference:

At our Canadian Headquarters:

  • Eliminated all Styrofoam, paper cups and plastic water bottles. Employees now drink from reusable water bottles and stainless steel mugs—gifts from the company. This initiative has reduced approximately 200 cups and lids a day from landfill.
  • Our cafeteria, board rooms, training rooms and workstations are equipped with recycling receptacles.
  • We use recyclable plastic utensils and plates for company functions. Our cleaning staff only uses eco-friendly detergents and cleaning products.
  • We planted vegetable gardens on our Canadian Headquarters property for employees to grow and harvest their own vegetables and herbs.
  • In conjunction with the City of Burlington, we have planted several trees on the front boulevard of our Canadian Headquarters.
  • Every April 22, Earth Day, we divide our employee volunteers into teams, provide garbage bags and take the time to clean up our neighbourhood.
  • Manufacturing has eliminated non-poisonous chemicals with 100% recycling.
  • We recycle all packaging materials and batteries.
  • We replaced all the lighting and reduced lighting to reduce electricity consumption.
  • We've installed window coatings to reduce heat loss during the winter months.
  • Our Purchasing team in Canada is leading out on purchasing "green" awards.
  • We are currently experimenting with 'green' bubble wrap in our Shipping department for the packing of awards.
  • Green Committee meets monthly to discuss eco initiatives, company activities and build an e-newsletter for O.C. Tanner Canada employees.
